Race #1 of 2014

The 2014 Racing Season at the World Famous Ingalls Motor Speedway kick off yesterday . Mother Nature gave us a picture perfect day and the racing was very clean and competitive.
We had 21 entries across five classes.
Novice
Heat winners. Brad Boling and Jim Dickey swept both rounds of their heats
Feature. The #78 of Brad Boling led flag to flag to win the first Novice A Main of 2014. Brad was hounded all race long by the #0 of Ken Lieker and with just 3 laps to go Ken spun off turn 4 costed him a good finish. New comer Brian Demland in his #7 comes home 2nd in his first Madhouse start. Jim Dickey's #5 rounds out the podium.
Sportsman
Heat winners. Mike Little wins round #1 and Jeff Grahn takes the 2nd round.
Feature. The first feature of 2014 for the Sportsman guys ones a good one. Little in his #28 and Grahn in the 26 battled for all 100 laps. The 26 went to tail at one time and came back to regain the lead. But in the end last year's Novice Champ grabs his first Sportman A Main victory in his first start. Congrats Mike Little. Last year's Champ Frank Boling wheeling his #15 comes home in the runner up spot and the #12 of Ron Strubbe comes home 3rd.
Sprint car.
The # 7 of Jeremy Brawner took all three rounds and scores a perfect points day.Ron Strubbe in the #12 takes 2nd and J.R Parsley finishes 3rd.
ECM.
The first ever East Coast Modified at The Madhouse was dominated by The #33 of John Foster. Foster swept all 3 rounds with the #15 of Frank Boling was on his bumper pad all day. Boling also snagged the pole and gained the 5 bonus points by .010. The 02 of Keith Barnes takes 3rd.
Outlaw SLM.
Jerry Brawner wins all three rounds to take the first Super Late Model race of 2014. Jerry ran the fastest lap of the day with a 5.746. The 98 of Jeremy Brawner was forced to a back up car after electrical issues plagued him in both rounds of the heats. But rebounded to take 2nd. Jason Cook 3rd.
Like to wish everyone a happy Easter and we will see you on May 3rd.

Awards Banquet

The date for the awards banquet has changed.  It will be held Saturday, November 9th at IQSR member Dustin Hineman's house.  Dustin's address is 6855 N. 200 W, Greenfield, IN 46140. You can see a map and get directions by clicking here. We will have food at 12:00 pm followed by the awards presentation.  We will also have discussion about the club leadership going forward, so it is important that as many of the members are there as possible.  Please RSVP to me at iqsr16@gmail.com and let me know if you will be able to join us, so I have an idea of how much food we might need.  I have burgers and hot dogs left from the NCS and Tri-State races, so we will grill those.  If anyone would like to bring a covered dish, please do.  If you plan to do that, please include what you might bring with your RSVP.

Thanks again to all the racers for a very good season.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the awards banquet.

Race #7

The last night race of the season is over, and it was another great night of racing at IMS.  Lap Times are posted, and points have been updated.  I figured in the throwouts for all classes except SLM.  We can discuss what you guys want to do as far as throwouts go, since we have not ran the cars on two occasions now.

The following is a post that Cookie put on Hobbytalk today.  As someone that has ran the booth, I can tell you that it is a very difficult job at times, and I support the decision that Cookie made with regard to the finishing order of the Sportsman A-main.  At the end of the day, once the race director makes a decision regarding throwing a caution, right or wrong, we must go with the results as they happened after the decision was made.  It was a tough call for sure, but no one wants to see the races finish under caution.

It was Another SUPERB evening of racing at The Mini Madhouse as it lived upped to its name on the last corner of the night.
Sprint Car was the Holloway show bit the rest of you did a hell of a job battling for all 100 laps. Would also like to congratulate Kevin Ligon on that heat won..Nice job 4
Limited could have been won by 7 of the 8 drivers as the 60 gets the hard luck of the night award. Congrats to our Point Leader Mike Little on another hard fought win . Brad Boling came home 2nd and in only his 2nd race ever Will Nicole rounds out top 3. Also like to say Congrats to the #0 of Ken Leiker for getting himself a heat win. I have had my eye on the 0 and he continues to get better week after week.
Now Sportsman..Todd (Kyle) Holloway and Jeff Grahn won both rounds of their respected heat. This does not tell the whole story. Racing was FREAKN AWESOME.
Todd led most of the main but without question all 9 drivers had the car to won this sucker.
OK to the final lap.Point leader Frank Bowling was leading followed by Holloway. As they took the white flag a lead lap car spun coming off turn 4 and a car that was laps down and spun simultaneously. I DID NOT THROW THE YELLOW. I had 5 secs to make a decision
Both cars got going and were crossing start finish as leaders hit turn 3.They were out of harms way so I allowed the race to continue. The 2 drove in toooooo deep and sent the leader up into the infamous pit road point.Race Over 2 and 15 to the tail
This hands the win to the #8 of Dave Brawner who got his FIRST EVER Sportsman Win.I say handed but that 8 car was the best I have ever seen it and was strong all day.Congrats Snake
2nd goes to Ron (The Post Man ) Strubbe who was also very good all day and I believe comes home with his best Sportsman finish.Steve Riddle takes 3rd. The 38 could not get back to the finish line so Frank Boiling comes home forth buy with Riddle Not being points eligible the 15 will receive 3rd place points.
I hate to see a guy lose won like this and to see a guy get his first like this.IT IS WHAT IT IS. I stand behind my call on the last lap and my decision today
Thank you to all that came out and put on another GREAT SHOW.
Tina once again a flawless job and thank you for your dedication to our club............6

Next up is the NCS race at IMS.  Track will be open for practice all day Thursday, and we will run the Heat races Friday.  We finish up with the Mains on Saturday.

Thanks once again to Cookie and Tina for running the show.

NCS Race #5 at Ingalls Motor Speedway

We are less than a week away from Round 5 of the 2013 NCS Series at Ingalls Motor Speedway.  We are looking forward to an exciting weekend of close, short track racing at the Mini-Madhouse.  Click here for a schedule of events for the weekend.

We would like to remind everyone to be respectful of the park we call home.  Please watch your speed as you enter.  We need you to park as close to the gravel as possible, and park starting from the Restrooms going back toward the track, and then on around toward the entrance.  There is lots of room behind the scoring shack as well.  The town has done some new construction in the grass outside of turns 3 and 4, so we will not be able to park cars in that area this year.  Also, the town has told us that they will no longer allow us to have overnight camping in the park.

On behalf of IQSR, we look forward to seeing you all at the track.  Thanks in advance for your support of the sport, as well as our local track.
