I.Q.S.R. News

The 2007 racing season is under way!  7 Drivers were on hand for the first race of the season. 2006 Track Champion Todd Holloway was back to defend his title. John Foster runner up to Todd in 2006 was also on hand as was 3rd in points last year Brian Taffe. Rounding out the field was Mike Corbridge, new comer Travor Hummel, and Brothers Scott and Troy Paluchniak.

First Round:
1st Heat racing was John Foster, Travor Hummel, Troy Paluchniak, and Brian Taffe. The racing was clean and exicting, But lady luck was not smiling on Troy Paluchniak as around midway through the 50 lap event he bent a rear trailing arm and was out for the day. Brian and John fought for the lead  through out the race but at the end it was John Foster taking the first Win of the season with Brian Taffe 2nd and Travor Hummel 3rd.

2nd heat was Mike Corbridge, Todd Holloway, and Scott Paluchniak. This race had some close racing as Mike Corbridge lead until Todd Holloway got under him in turn one and brought Scott Paluchniak along with him dropping Mike back to 3rd. Lady luck frowned on Mike Corbridge in the later stages of the race when a steering servo screw came out dropping Mike from the race. This left Todd Leading with Scott right behind him. With 10 laps to go Todd got loose going into three and Scott slipped by underneath for the win! Final was Scott Paluchniak 1st, Todd Holloway 2nd and Mike Corbridge 3rd.

Second Round:
1st Heat was again John Foster and Brian Taffe fighting hard with Travor Hummel waiting to see what was going to happen up front. Brian was fighting hard to catch John. Brian was going so low in turn 1 that he was kicking up the grass clippings. Brian's hard work paid off though as John slided up high on the back straight coming out of turn 2 and Brian took the lead and the win! Final results were Brian Taffe 1st, John Foster 2nd and Travor Hummel 3rd.
2nd Heat racing This race was again a close race between all three drivers. Mike Corbridge dropped out early with mechanical troubles leaving Todd Holloway and Scott Paluchniak to fight it out. They ran a very clean and hard fought 50 laps but with 8 laps to go Todd slid up high letting Scott by. Scott never looked back from there and went on  for the win! Final standing was Scott Paluchniak 1st, Todd Holloway 2nd , and Mike Corbridge 3rd.

The 150 lap Main:
6 drivers answered the call to race.  This was a hard fought race with 5 different leaders! Mike Corbridge lead for a while until a stripped servo saver dropped him out of the race.
Brain Taffe, John Foster, and Todd Holloway all took turns leading the race. As the laps wound down Brain slipped up and went high on the back straightaway letting Todd and John through dropping Brian to 3rd. Todd would later pass John for the lead but the battle must have taken its toll on Todds tires as he started to slide up more in corners. This was just what John needed and he took full advantage of this passing Todd back and taking the lead and the win! Brian Taffe would take advantage of Todd's problems and take 2nd with Todd Holloway holding on to take 3rd, 4th went to Scott Paluchniak, 5th Travor Hummel, and 6th Mike Corbridge.
A special Thanks to Mike Corbridge who cut the grass for us around the track. Thanks Mike!! Also a thank you to our drivers who put on some very exciting racing action!
Thanks All!! Next Race is May 12th see you all then!!

First Round
Race 1
The First Heat was Travor Hummel, Scott Paluchniak, New Member and first timer Mike Stuchell, and Dick Hindman making his first  start with us. Well a man I knew once told me some days you get peanuts some days shells. This was a shell day as the lap counting system failed. So after having no luck in getting the system to work.,  (For those Race Directors out there YES I tried cussing) we went back to the hand counting. As we got the race under way Mike Stuchell took the lead but on the third lap Scott Paluchniak passed him to take the lead and never looked back. At the finish it was Scott Paluchniak first, new comer Mike Stuchell Second, Dick Hindman third, and Travor Hummel forth.
Heat 2 was Mike Corbridge, John Foster, Troy Paluchniak, and Brian Taffe.
Mike Corbridge started on the pole and was building a big lead until lap four when he spun while exiting turn 2 brought out the first caution and handing the lead over to Brain Taffe. On the restart it was Brian Taffe, John Foster second, Troy Paluchniak third and Mike Corbridge Forth. Brian and John put on a good show swapping lead but in the end it was Brian Taffe first,John Foster second, Mike Corbridge Third, And Troy Paluchniak forth.
Second Round
Race 1
Mike Stuchell lead the first lap before being passed by Dick Hindman in turn 1 but on the third lap Mike and Dick touched going into turn 1 causing both to spin  Scott Paluchniak was third and could not avoid the crash. Travor Hummel in forth took the high line and the lead as he came out of turn two. The crash brought out the caution and on the restart Dick Hindman managed to get the lead with some drafting help from Mike Stuchell second, Travor Hummel third and Scott Paluchniak forth. Mike And Dick traded the lead back and forth until lap 12 when a radio problem took Dick Hindman out of the race. Mike lead until lap 23 when Travor Hummel made his way by bringing Scott Paluchniak with him. Travor led until lap 27 when Scott Paluchniak and Travor traded paint going into turn 1 They rubbed trough turn 2 but Scott took the lead in a drag race down the back straight and never looked back. At the end it was Scott Paluchniak first, Mike Stuchell Second, Travor Hummel third, and Dick Hindman forth.
Race 2
Began with John Foster in the lead Mike Corbridge second Troy Paluchniak third and Brian Taffe forth. John Foster and Troy Paluchniak traded the lead until John Foster took it on lap 5  and kept it until the finish. At the end it was John Foster first, Brian Taffe second, Mike Corbridge third and Troy Paluchniak forth.
Mains
Due to hand counting the mains were split into 2 races of 75 laps.
B main
The B main was Mike Corbridge, Dick Hindman, Travor Hummel, and Troy Paluchniak.
This race saw Dick Hindman drop out with radio problems, Troy Paluchniak could not get his car started so the race started with Mike Corbridge and Travor Hummel. Mike started on the pole and lead it wire to wire to pick up his First Win! Travor dropped out when his upper a arm screw fell out. Troy managed to get his engine started but he was 33 laps down. The problem with Troy's car was a very hot carb boiling the fuel off. The finish was Mike Corbridge first, Troy Paluchniak second, Travor Hummel third and Dick Hindman forth.
A main
The A main was John Foster, Scott Paluchniak, Mike Stuchell, and Brian Taffe. From the start Scott Paluchniak had his Disruptor chassis dialed he lead till lap 20 when John Foster managed to slip by but by lap 24 Scott went back into the lead John fought back and regained the lead on lap36 as this battle continued until lap 62 when Scott spun and John was left with no place to go clipped Scott with his right front causing damage to the suspension and he was out of the race. Scott went on from there to take the win. The results were Scott Paluchniak first, Mike Stuchell second, Brian Taffe third, and John Foster Forth.
A special Thanks to Mike Corbridge who cut the grass for us around the track. Thanks Mike!! I would also like to thank  Fred Murray for all his help with scoring THANKS. Also a big THANK YOU to our drivers who put on a very exciting race and had patience through all the problems we had!

On the start Mike Stuchell took the lead with Todd Holloway in pursuit by lap 2 Todd took the lead but 2 laps later Mike retakes the lead. Todd and Mike fight like this for the first 10 laps before Brian Taffe decided he wanted to lead and he takes the lead on lap11. Brian and Todd trade the lead back and forth for the next 10 laps as Mike holds down third and Travor in forth. Brian and Todd fight like this until with 10 laps to go Todd takes the lead and holds on  to take the win by1.2 seconds over Brian. The 75 lap  Sportsman B Main:
This race featured  Mike Corbridge, Rich Hindman, Travor Hummel, Troy Paluchniak, and Brian Taffe. The winner of this race would bump up into the A Main! Brian had trouble with his car and could not make the start. When the green flag flew it was Travor with the lead followed by Troy, and Rich in 3rd.   Troy took the lead on lap 2 but Travor wasn't ready to let go of it and retook the lead on lap 3. Travor lead until lap 18 when he spun in turn 1 bring out the yellow and dropping him to the tail. On the restart it was Troy Paluchniak, out front Mike Corbridge in 2nd and Rich Hindman in 3rd. A special Thanks to Mike Corbridge who cut the grass for us around the track. Thanks Mike!! Also a thank you to our drivers who put on some very exciting racing action!
Thanks All!! Next Race is May 12th see you all then!!

Sat. race on July 7th. has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date. This is due to not having the counting system as of yet. We hope to have this soon so we can continue with what has started to be a great season of racing. We used the MPR system for the Tri-State and it worked very well. This will be a great addition to our club that will celebrate it's 20th. year of racing next year. See you all soon. Todd
Race to be rescheduled
Sorry I haven't kept up but I've been having computer problems but I think it's fixed now. We now have a brand new AMB scoring system and new software RC Scoring Pro. IT is GREAT lots of features and all sorts of new controls I have to learn but, enough of this. This is about racing and even with threating skies we managed to have a great race.
We had Six drivers show up to tame the track. With the morning rain a drivers meeting was called and the drivers decided to run just the 150 lap main. It was also decided to set the field by points. So Starting on the pole was Kevin Ligon followed by Richard Hindman, Travor Hummel, Mike Corbridge, John Foster, and Todd Holloway. Kevin had an accident in practice and damaged his spindle putting him out for the day, but instead of packing up and heading for home. He volunteered to stay and  be our turn marshal for the race hanks Kevin! This put Richard on the polr and from the start he looked like he might win it from the pole. At the 10 lap mark Todd Holloway had fought his way to second and really wanted the lead. Todd had parked his car on Richard's rear bumper for the last couple of laps and was waiting for richard to slip up. Going into turn 1 Richard left just enough room for Todd to stick his car under his. As the exited turn 1 Todd and Richard traded a little paint and this let John Foster follow Todd through to talke over second as they went into turn 3. This was the way it went Todd in the lead and John less then a car length behind. At the 50 lap mark the computer stopped. Remember all those new features I talked about eariler. I thought I had it set for 150 laps but I didn't redo the race so the change didn't take effect. So a brief stop while I fixed that and we started racing again. At the fuel stop on lap 75 it was still Todd with the lead and John second Richard third Travor forth and Mike fifth. We had a small crowd of spectators watching the races and they seemed to be enjoing themselves. After the fuel stop it was back to the Todd and  John show. John could catch Todd but John just didn't seem to have enough to get by. Lap after lap John would get close enough  to trade some paint but Todd would always have something to keep him back. Now right about the 100 lap mark Mike Corbridge had gottn loose coming out of  2 and spun about ½ down the back straight. Mike managed to do a 360 and keep it going but Tood and John were coming up FAST. Todd went low to avoid Mike but John dodn't have timeto react the resulting crash sent Mike's 43 5-6 FEET into the AIR!! This allowed John to pass under Mike's car!! This crash didn't seem to do anything to either car and both continued. John did lose some ground to Todd, but as the race continued John was right back up on Todd's rear bumper.  With one lap to go John was back up on Todd as they screamed into turn 3, but as luck would have Richard and Travor were there on the low side. Todd went high and John was tucked in right behind him. Richard just touched Travor's rear bumper and around he went. As Travor spun he just touched John's left front fender and John was pushed high coming out of 4. This produced one of the wildest finishes this year. As Richard couldn't avoid the spinning Travor he climbed all the way up on Travors roof and hood. Richard came off Travor's hood just before the finish line claiming third. So the offical finish was Todd Holloway 1st, John Foster 2nd, Richard Hindman 3rd , Travor Hummel 4th, and Mike Corbridge 5th. It was an exiciting race and the last lap brought our spectators to their feet. I can't wait to see what the next race brings!! Hope to see you there. Bob

Well the last points race and only 3 points seperated our Leader Todd Hollway from second place holder John Foster. We also had 2 new drivers join in. They are Mike Jackson, and Kevin Helm. Welcome Guys. Mike Corbridge had the track mowed and looking good. Thanks Mike. The heats featured the on going battle between Todd and John with Todd winning both heats and John finishing 2 & 3. The 150 lap main would decide our point winner and Todd was looking hard to beat . As the race got underway it was Todd with the lead and John right behind him.The race stayed that way until with about 25 laps left. Todd coming down the front straightway with John and Richard in hot pursuit. Suddenly we had a car spin in turn 1 and Todd's car slowed John and Richard went by underneath Todd's car. Richard fought John off going down the back straight to take the lead as the yellow flag flew! This action brought our crowd of spectastors to their feet. We soon discovered that Todd had not slowed, he had a engine problem and had to pit! This gave the lead to Richard with John right behind! Once the green flag was thrown Richard and John battled for the lead. John finaly got the lead with 11 laps to go  followed by Richard and Brian Taffe. Once again the crowd was on their feet!! With around 5 laps to go Brian got passed Richard and set his sights on John. Brian caught John going into turn 1 and made the pass  going down the back straight bring Richard with him. It seems that with 2 laps to go John's head gasket let go and now he was down on power. At the end it was Brian Taffe our winner followed by Richard Hindman in 2, John Foster in 3, Mike Corbridge in 4, Todd Holloway in 5,  Mike Jackson in 6, Kevin Helm in 7 and Kevin Ligon in 8. What a Race!! Now everyone held their breath as the points were tallied lets see 5 divided 2 carry the 1 and our 2007 Track Champion is .... Todd Holloway by 4 points over John Foster What a night!! The 500 lap Sportsman race is next and if these last few races are any indication we should have ourselves one big barn burner. Hope to see everyone then.
Sat, Sept. 22nd.
The last race of the season the Sportsman 500. 500 laps of hard fast racing on the Ingalls Oval. 10 drivers showed up for this race and Trophies would be awarded to the top 3 finishers in this race. First I would like to get the Thank You's out of the way . A big Thank You to Ed and Pat who provided donuts, bagels with cream cheese and coffee for everyone. They also made a donation to our scoring system fund THANKS!!! Mike Corbridge who once again did our mowing Thanks Mike! And last but not least Todd Holloway of Holloway Graphics who did the graphics on all the trophies. Thanks Todd! Now on to the race. We did this race a little different then usual. A 4 lap single car qualifying would determine your starting place in the field, with your best lap setting your spot.  The line up with Times were as follows:
on the Pole
1.)        John Foster........at 6.568
2.)Todd Holloway.......at 6.600
3.)Brian Taffe..............at 6.921
4.)Mike Corbridge.......at 6.926
5.)Richard Hindeman...at 6.953
6.)Scott Paluchniak......at 6.978
7.)Jerry Brawner..........at 7.180
8.)Kevin Ligon.............at 7.440
9.)Travor Hummel........at 7.755
10.)Kevin Helm............at 8.244
At the drop of the green flag it was Todd and John fighting for the lead and trading paint, or Lexan, depending on how you want to look at it. Todd finally setteled it with John in second. This is pretty much how the race went with Brian and Richard fighting it out for the third spot. Brian had some tough luck though winding up on his roof not once but twice as he slid down the front straight away. This brought our fans to their feet. Mike Corbridge also got a light tap on the left rear bumper spinning him into the front straight fence and sending pieces of his rear spoiler flying. Todd on his second fuel stop had his pit crew (Bill) fuel and adjust the carb, putting Todd to the back for the adjustment. When the racing resumed it didn't take Todd long to find the front again, passing John into turn 3. Todd was fast before but after Bill's adjustment he was flying. As the race progressed John's car was starting to slow down. By the end of the race Todd had lapped the field twice. John fadded to sixth. Second was Richard Hindeman who worked his way up quietly. Third was Brian Taffe, despite being  upside down twice. There was talk of giving him the nickname “Turtle” because of being upside down so much. Forth place went to Jerry Brawner who bought Todd's back up car about 2 hours before the race started. Fifth was Scott Paluchniak owner of Cat 5 Manufacturing makers of the Disruptor chassis. Sixth went to John Foster what a show he put on, with Todd most of the race they were only inches apart. Seventh went to Mike Corbridge who recovered well and kept Todd behind him for the last 20 laps despite Todd's attempts to put him another lap down. Eighth went to Travor Hummel he looked good but had bad luck as he tried to avoid a crash and clipped the spinning car breaking off the upper right front heim joint. Nineth went to Kevin Ligon Kevin had just 1 race with us but he did a great job. And tenth was Kevin Helm. Kevin is another new driver and just had some problems with his car. A little more practice and he will be up front! Well thats it, I'm sorry to see the season end. Thanks to All our drivers they put on some great racing this season. Don't  forget we will have awards at the track and everyone will get something so I'll see ya all there!

2008 winter club meeting
It was brought to my attention that QSAC and Willmann have had a problem with the new plate/adapter. If you have not yet ordered one please hold off until they have some new ones made. I'm sending a link from Willmann's web site that explains the whole situation including how to get a new one if you have already bought one from them. This plate is going to be good for us once they have all the issues taken care of. Here is the link; http://www.willmannracingproducts.com/news.html

We also need to start a section on our web site for club members. This would list all of our car numbers that we each use so new guys know what numbers are available. If you would like to start sending them to me I will attempt to start working on that for us. Thanks Todd

I'm sorry to say but I think the best thing to do is postpone this weeks race. In looking at the radar and checking several forecast it is going to rain. This would make two rain dates that need made up. We race on  Sept. 27th. this is our leg of the tri-state. Don't forget this is a points race for our club. The way this works is if someone from another club wins and you get second you will get first place points for IQSR this will follow all the way down the list. This is a great chance to compare yourself to other guys from other states without leaving home. This should also get you excited about may be running the 2009 tri-state series. With the high gas prices coming back I most likley will decide to run both rain dates on Oct. 18th. this would be a double race day with two complete race programs for the price of one. We would qualify run heats and mains and then take a little time work on cars and start over. This would be a lot of fun plus save some gas money. This would be our final fling for the year. Plus don't forget the big 500 lap sportsman race. We have a lot of racing left so lets all end on a good note. Thanks Todd P.S. Please pass this on if you know of anyone not getting this..
Sept. 13th. Race Rained Out
Well the 2010 season is here! We had our winter meeting Sat. This was one of the best meetings in club history. One thing we do have in this club is friendships. It was real obvious Sat. morning. We race hard as a club and we also respect each other as competitors and friends. Thanks to the Brawner family for the use of there house for the meeting. Lots of good ideas were past around and everyone had input. We will be adding a start line coming off of turn four to help on restarts. We will also be having a trial the first two races as far as passing on restarts. The two ideas will be no passing until line, the other one will be passing as soon as you hear the horn. We will try it both ways and make a decision by race number three. We will also take the top two from each race, with one person staying on the track as turn marshal the other to the booth to help Bob run the races.  We will now be using an FM transmitter so drivers and fans can listen on their radio (compliments from Jim Phillips). We will be playing the national anthem at each and every race as well. We will be looking into getting an electric light up sign that will show positions and times hooked to PC. We have also decided that we will be paying Bob Louk $40.00 to score the races to help off set his gas for his two and half hour drive each race. Bob does this because he loves racing and helping the club, but without someone like this our racing would end. We I'm sure will have a few things come up as we go, but after 22 years there's nothing this club can't accomplish. Thanks Todd
